Queer Black doula bringing Creole tradition and evidence-based birth support to New Orleans
About Celeste
I have been attending births in New Orleans for eleven years, and there is nowhere else in the world I would rather do this work. This city holds birth like a ceremony, and I try to carry that spirit into every room I enter. As a queer Black woman, I know what it means to need a care provider who sees all of you, not just the parts that fit neatly into an intake form. My specialty is supporting families through unmedicated and low-intervention births in hospital and birth center settings. I also offer traditional Creole postpartum care practices โ warming foods, herbal baths, belly binding โ that my grandmother taught me and her grandmother taught her. If you want someone who will hold your whole story, not just the clinical parts, I am your person.
Why I Do This Work
My grandmother said that the women who hold space at birth hold the whole community together. I think she was right.
