Introduction

DoulaBridge ("we," "us," or "our") operates a marketplace platform that connects families with doulas. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our website and services at doulabridge.com (the "Platform").

By using DoulaBridge, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account with Google sign-in or an email magic link, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we also collect your Google profile photo and store the sign-in tokens that Google gives us.

Doula Profiles

Doulas who create a profile give us professional details, such as their bio, doula types, certifications, education, languages, pricing, service areas, website, social media handles and identity tags. Doulas can also upload a profile photo. Everything on a published profile is public, including the photo and the zip codes of the service areas.

Information From Families

Families can contact a doula or book a meeting with a doula without an account. When you do, we collect your name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, your message and your answers to the doula's questions. When you book, we also collect your time zone, the meeting time and your due date if you give it. We store this information, send it to the doula you contacted, and use it to send you emails about your booking.

Messages to Us

When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject and message. We send them to our support inbox. We record the subject in PostHog. We post the subject and the time to our team's Discord channel, so we know to check the inbox. Your name, email address and message do not go to Discord.

Location Data

We collect location information to power doula search. For families, this is the city or zip code you enter when you search. For doulas, this is the service area information on your profile. We use geographic coordinates to calculate distances and show relevant results. When you type a location, we send the text to Google Places to suggest matching places. We do not send your IP address to Google.

Payment Information

Premium plans for doulas are paid through Stripe. We send Stripe your name and email address. Stripe collects your card details on its own pages. We never see or store your full card number or CVV. We store only your plan, billing cycle and subscription status, whether you used your free trial, and the Stripe IDs for your account.

Usage Information

We collect usage data when you visit the Platform, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, the pages you view, the links and buttons you click, the searches you run and the filters you choose (such as location and price), and referring URLs. For doula type, identity, values and language, our analytics record only that you used the filter, not what you chose. When you are signed in, we link this data to your account, including your name and email address. This helps us understand how people use DoulaBridge and improve it. Our hosting provider also keeps a log of each request, and that log can include the full address of each page and search request, with your filters. See Cookies and Tracking below.

How We Use Your Information

  • Marketplace functionality: Showing doula profiles in search results, matching families with doulas by location and doula type, and sending a family's message or booking to the doula they chose.
  • Account management: Signing you in, managing your profile, and managing Premium subscriptions.
  • Communication: Sending sign-in links, emails about your account and subscription, and booking confirmations, changes and cancellations to families and doulas.
  • Platform improvement: Analyzing usage patterns to improve features, fix issues, and develop new functionality.
  • Safety and compliance: Stopping spam and fraud, enforcing our Terms of Service, and complying with legal obligations.

Third-Party Services

We use these third-party services, which receive some of your data:

  • Supabase: Stores the Platform's database.
  • Vercel: Hosts the Platform and stores doula profile photos. Vercel keeps request logs, which include IP addresses.
  • Resend: Sends our emails, such as sign-in links, messages to doulas and booking emails.
  • PostHog: Records how people use the Platform. See Cookies and Tracking below.
  • Sentry: Collects error reports. When you are signed in, a report includes your account ID and email address.
  • Discord: Tells our team when someone uses the contact form. It receives the subject you chose and the time.
  • Stripe: Processes Premium payments.
  • Google: Handles Google sign-in, and suggests places when you type a location.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: Checks signals from your browser and device on our contact and booking forms, to tell people from bots.

Each of these services handles data under its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. The Platform needs them to work, so you cannot turn them off.

We use PostHog for analytics on every page. PostHog stores an identifier in a cookie and in your browser's local storage, so it can recognize your visits. It records the pages you view, the links and buttons you click, and your searches and filters. It does not record which doula type, identity, values or language you choose, or which options you choose in the quiz. It does record the location you search for. When you sign in, PostHog links this activity to your name and email address. The Platform does not have a setting to turn off analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most content blockers stop PostHog in your browser. Our servers also send some events to PostHog, such as profile views and completed bookings, and content blockers do not stop these. When you are not signed in, these events use a one-way code made from your IP address and browser details.

Data Retention

We keep your account and profile information while your account is active. We keep the messages and bookings that families send to a doula while that doula's account is active. We keep logs for up to 6 months.

To delete your account, email us at support@doulabridge.com. We will delete your account and its data within a reasonable time, except data that we must keep for legal, accounting or fraud prevention purposes. Copies held by the services listed above follow those services' own retention rules. A doula profile shows in search results while it is published. Doulas can unpublish their profile from the dashboard at any time. If you contacted or booked a doula, you can also email us to delete that information. We cannot delete copies in the doula's own email.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information through your dashboard or by contacting us.
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data and account.
  • Portability: Request a machine-readable copy of your data.
  • Objection: Object to certain types of data processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@doulabridge.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure authentication protocols, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

DoulaBridge is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of DoulaBridge after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
